About Tweed and Area

Most people who have driven down Highway 37 remember a small village with vibrant, painted fire hydrants, a large lake in the downtown core and North America’s Smallest Jail House.

The Tweed Chamber of Commerce & The Municipality of Tweed invite you to enjoy Tweed’s natural beauty and the many talents of its shops and artisans.

The Moira River meanders through the Municipality of Tweed and is the major contributor to Stoco Lake, where a community Pavilion anchors a beautiful family-oriented park and play ground, before flowing towards the Bay of Quinte at Belleville. The incredible Colonel Roscoe Van der Water Conservation Area greets many visitors on the banks of the Moira. Remnants of the Ice Age can be observed in Tweed’s Eskers – sandy hills created by retreating glaciers. The view from the Eskers is breathtaking.

Many artisans have come to Tweed for inspiration for their work. Some have chosen to stay in Tweed because of its many pastoral scenes and the quality of life offered by comfort country living.

The residents of Tweed invite you to join us in celebrating Summer and all its beauty. Return in the Fall and Winter where there’s always something new to enjoy! You are sure to receive a good, old-fashioned Tweed Welcome!
